SportsBay
SportsBay streamed US TV channels with NBA, NFL and Olympic coverage for free, behind Pirate Bay-style artwork, until a DISH lawsuit took its sites offline in September 2021. A Texas court later awarded DISH $493.85 million; newer sportsbay domains have no known tie to it.

Is SportsBay Still Working?
No. The original SportsBay went dark in September 2021, two months after DISH Network and Sling TV sued it in Texas and won permission to subpoena Namecheap, Cloudflare and Google. Its main addresses were sportsbay.org and sportsbay.tv, and the two partner sites in the same case, Live-NBA.stream and Freefeds.com, disappeared with them. In August 2023 a judge entered a $493,850,000 default judgment against the two Buenos Aires men DISH had identified as the operators; neither showed up in court.
The name has since been picked up by others with no reported link to that pair. sportsbay.dk was blocked in France for the LFP in 2024 and in India during the 2025 Club World Cup, and sportsbay.pro appeared on an unverified list of domains seized in the US World Cup crackdown of July 2026. Our checker tries each address once a day, and every badge above reflects its most recent attempt.

What Happened to SportsBay
- DISH Network and Sling TV sued the operators of SportsBay.org, SportsBay.tv, Live-NBA.stream and Freefeds.com in Texas, alleging they circumvented Sling's DRM to stream its channels for free.
- After the court allowed DISH to subpoena Namecheap, Cloudflare, Google and others, all four SportsBay sites went offline.
- A Texas federal judge entered a default judgment of $493,850,000 against two Buenos Aires residents DISH had identified as the operators.
- sportsbay.dk was among the domains a Paris court ordered blocked for French football league LFP.
- sportsbay.dk was added to the list of domains blocked under DAZN's Delhi High Court injunction for the FIFA Club World Cup.
- sportsbay.pro appeared on TorrentFreak's non-verified list of domains seized in the US 'Operation Offsides' World Cup crackdown.
Is SportsBay Safe?
No. Even the original ran on channels that DISH said were decrypted from Sling TV, by people who never came to court, so there was no accountable company behind it. Since 2021 the SportsBay name belongs to whoever registers it, and nothing vouches for those sites either.
Worst cases first, because they cost the most:
- malware hidden inside a 'player' or 'codec' download
- card forms dressed up as a free trial or an age check
- notification prompts that later fill a phone with fake alerts
- requests for a photo of your passport or driver's license
Milder, and far more common: pop-ups, redirect tabs, fake play buttons and 18+ ads stacked around the player. If you entered card details on a sportsbay page, call your bank to freeze the card before you dispute any charges.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Is SportsBay?
SportsBay was a free site that streamed US TV channels, with NBA and NFL games, the Olympics, cricket and motorsport, under artwork borrowed from The Pirate Bay. DISH said it got those channels by decrypting Sling TV streams, and sportsbay.org drew an estimated 9.35 million visits a month in 2021. It went offline that September after DISH sued, and a Texas court awarded DISH $493.85 million in 2023.
What happened to SportsBay?
A lawsuit ended it. In July 2021 DISH and Sling TV sued the operators of SportsBay.org, SportsBay.tv, Live-NBA.stream and Freefeds.com, accusing them of getting around Sling's DRM. Once the court let DISH subpoena Namecheap, Cloudflare, Google and others, all four went dark, in September 2021.
Why was the SportsBay judgment so big?
DISH counted 2,469,250 US visits over six months to Live-NBA.stream, the partner site that served the decryption keys, and asked for $200 per violation. The defendants never appeared, so the judge granted it by default in August 2023: $493,850,000.
Is SportsBay linked to The Pirate Bay?
No link has been reported. SportsBay only borrowed the look, with Pirate Bay-style artwork across its pages, and nothing in the DISH case connected the two. The resemblance was branding, not shared owners.
Is sportsbay.pro or sportsbay.dk the real SportsBay?
No. Both appeared after the original closed, and no report ties either one to its operators. sportsbay.dk ended up on blocking lists in France and India, and sportsbay.pro showed up on an unverified list of domains the US seized in July 2026.
Is SportsBay legal?
It wasn't. The DISH case was about streaming channels without a license and breaking Sling TV's copy protection, and the court sided with DISH by default. Copies using the name stream without the rights holders' say-so too, which is why they keep getting blocked and seized.
Which apps show NBA and NFL games now that SportsBay is gone?
Where can I watch cricket and motorsport?
Does a VPN make SportsBay copies safe?
No. Hiding your IP address does nothing about a card form or a fake download on the page. A VPN is more useful for something SportsBay never offered: watching your own US subscription when you're out of the country, at up to 4K.
What else do people call SportsBay?
You'll see it written as sports bay, sportbay or sportsbay tv, and people still search the old addresses sportsbay.org and sportsbay.tv along with the newer sportsbay.pro. None of those leads back to the site DISH sued.
