Wiziwig

Original site closed in January 2015Copies are illegal and can carry malwareChecked 18 October 2026

Wiziwig was a volunteer-moderated portal and forum linking free streams of almost every sport, which took over from MyP2P in 2011. It shut on 1 January 2015 over a new Spanish copyright law, and every Wiziwig online since then has been a copy.

Is Wiziwig Still Working?

No. Wiziwig switched itself off on 1 January 2015, the day Spain's new copyright amendments came into force, and its owner moved on to GetYourFixtures, a guide to licensed streams. Its last real home was wiziwig.tv. Every Wiziwig online today is a copy, run by people with no reported tie to the old team.

Some of those copies are busy. In September 2026 wiziwig1.org drew about 141,000 visits, mostly from Germany, wiziwigs.eu about 51,000 and the reused wiziwig.tv about 33,000, with the US as the top country for those two. Smaller ones, such as wiziwig.it.com and wiziwig.pro, mainly trade on the name to promote themselves. Every one of them is requested by our checker daily, and the badge next to each address is its latest answer.

What Happened to Wiziwig

  1. The sports indexing site MyP2P moved to wiziwig.eu after its myp2p.eu domain was put on hold.
  2. wiziwig.tv was among 479 sites listed in a Delhi High Court blocking case brought by Sony's Multi Screen Media during the World Cup.
  3. Wiziwig's Twitter account was shut down after a complaint, the operators later told TorrentFreak.
  4. Wiziwig.tv stopped linking to streams and closed on 1 January 2015, saying Spain's new copyright amendments exposed it to fines of up to €600,000; the owner moved to GetYourFixtures.com, a guide to official streams.
  5. About a dozen former Wiziwig moderators launched a new community streaming portal called StreamHub.

Is Wiziwig Safe?

The name carries none of the trust the old forum had. Wiziwig had an owner who spoke to the press and volunteer moderators who ran the community; the sites using its name now have neither, as far as anyone can tell. The original also leaned on P2P players such as Sopcast and Veetle, and a 'player' you are told to install is still the classic way copies get software onto a computer.

On a typical Wiziwig copy, a click on the video opens a new tab, a second button offers an HD download, a box asks you to allow notifications, and 18+ ads fill the sidebar. The bad cases are malware inside that download, alerts that later turn into fake virus warnings, and sign-up forms built to collect a card number or a scanned ID.

Watch the spelling, too. Near-identical names multiply: one, wizwig1.com, was seized by US agents in December 2022, though nothing ties it to Wiziwig.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Wiziwig?

Wiziwig was a community-run portal and forum that listed free streams for almost every spectator sport, from Premier League football and the NFL to ice hockey, tennis and cricket. It took over from MyP2P in August 2011, first at wiziwig.eu and then at wiziwig.tv, with volunteer moderators keeping it going. In January 2015 it was the 239th most visited site in the UK. It closed on 1 January 2015, and the name now belongs only to copies.

Why did Wiziwig shut down?

Spain changed its copyright law. Its owner explained that the site was based in Spain, whose courts had earlier treated link sites as lawful, and the amendments that took effect on 1 January 2015 exposed it to fines of up to 600,000 euros. It stopped linking to streams that day. SportBusiness reported the closure as forced by the Premier League.

Is wiziwig1.org the real Wiziwig?

No. wiziwig1.org is the busiest of the copies, with about 141,000 visits in September 2026 and Germany as its biggest audience, but nothing connects it to the team that closed the original in 2015. The same goes for wiziwigs.eu and for wiziwig.tv, which is now in someone else's hands.

What happened to the Wiziwig team?

They went separate ways. The owner joined GetYourFixtures, a site that points fans to licensed streams. In September 2015 about a dozen former moderators launched StreamHub, a new community streaming portal. Wiziwig itself never reopened under its old team.

Is Wiziwig the same as MyP2P?

Yes, one project under two names. When MyP2P lost its domains to a legal hold in August 2011, the same team moved the index and forum to wiziwig.eu, later wiziwig.tv. See MyP2P for the years before the move, including the Premier League's early push to close it.

Was Wiziwig legal?

No. It linked to matches streamed without the rights holders' permission, and enforcement followed it around: wiziwig.tv was on a Delhi High Court blocking list during the 2014 World Cup, and its Twitter account was shut after a complaint that December. Its operators also said the Premier League used the site to find streams and take them down.

Did Wiziwig use Sopcast?

Many of its links were P2P streams in players such as Sopcast and Veetle, which had to be installed separately before a match would play. Copies using the name today push their own player downloads, and those files are exactly what to avoid.

Where can I watch the sports Wiziwig covered?

Our pages for football, the NFL, the NHL and tennis open on your country and name who broadcasts each competition there, on TV and online, with any free channel marked.

Does a VPN make a Wiziwig copy safe?

No. Your connection gets encrypted, but the copy still sends the same ads and downloads to your browser. A VPN is useful for something else: it lets the sports app you pay for at home keep running when you travel, with streams up to 4K.

What else do people call Wiziwig?

You'll see wizi wig, wiziwig1, wiziwig tv, wiziwigs and the misspelling wizwig, plus the old addresses wiziwig.tv and wiziwig.eu. In January 2015, just as the site closed, wiziwig was the eighth most popular search on Google.co.uk.
