The 2026/27 Championship: Where Every Game Can Be Seen
The Championship is the second tier of English football and one of the busiest leagues anywhere: 24 clubs, 46 games each, matches almost every Saturday and regular Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The 2026/27 regular season runs from August 14, 2026, to May 1, 2027. The top two go up to the Premier League, playoffs decide the third promotion place with a final at Wembley, and three clubs drop to League One. West Ham United, Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers arrive this season after relegation.
In the United Kingdom, Sky Sports and Sky Sports+ show more than 1,000 EFL games a season, NOW streams them, and ITV has the highlights. In the United States, most games stream on Paramount+, CBS shows some on TV, and CBS Sports Golazo Network is a free streaming channel that carries Championship football.
What sets this league apart abroad is club streaming. Outside the UK and Ireland, EFL club streaming services show the games no local broadcaster picks up, so fans can usually watch their own team live even where TV coverage is thin. Televised games are on DAZN in Canada, beIN SPORTS CONNECT in Australia and New Zealand, FanCode in India and Pakistan, and SuperSport, ESPN and DStv Stream in much of Africa.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I watch the Championship in the UK?
Sky Sports is the home of the Championship in the UK, showing games on its own channels and on Sky Sports+, and NOW streams them without a Sky contract. Saturday 3 p.m. kickoffs are still not shown live, because of the long-standing blackout in English football. ITV has the highlights.
Can I stream every Championship game outside the UK?
In most countries, yes. Where no broadcaster shows a match, the clubs' own streaming services carry it live, so a subscription to your team's service covers the games TV skips. Televised games stay with the local rights holder, such as Paramount+ in the US or DAZN in Canada. Club streaming is not available in the UK or Ireland.
Is the Championship free to watch in the US?
Partly. The free CBS Sports Golazo Network streams Championship coverage, and CBS shows selected matches on TV. For the full schedule, Paramount+ streams most games. Saturday 3 p.m. UK kickoffs land at 10 a.m. Eastern, and midweek evening games start in the early afternoon.
Where can I watch the Championship in Nigeria, Kenya or Ghana?
SuperSport and ESPN both show Championship games on TV in these countries, and DStv Stream covers SuperSport's matches online. SportyTV also streams games there. For your own club's matches that neither channel picks, the EFL club streaming services work across Africa.
Which app shows the Championship in India?
FanCode streams the Championship in India and Pakistan, and EFL club streaming fills in the games it does not show. Tuesday and Wednesday night games, usually at 7:45 p.m. UK time, start at 1:15 a.m. in India in winter, so the Saturday afternoon fixtures are much easier to watch live.
How do the Championship playoffs work?
The clubs finishing just below the top two go into the playoffs, which decide the third promotion place. The last two standing meet in a one-off final at Wembley in May, often called the richest game in football because of the Premier League money at stake.
Can I watch the Championship in Australia or Canada?
Yes. beIN SPORTS CONNECT streams the league in Australia and New Zealand, and DAZN has it in Canada. Both countries also get EFL club streaming for games those services leave out. Midweek games at 7:45 p.m. in England start around 6:45 a.m. Sydney time from November to March.
Can I use a club streaming pass while visiting England?
Not directly, because EFL club streaming does not work inside the UK and Ireland. Overseas fans traveling to England for a game can connect NordVPN to their home country and keep watching through the pass they already have. The same trick keeps a Paramount+ or DAZN account working on any trip abroad.
Which clubs came down from the Premier League for 2026/27?
West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley went down after the 2025/26 season, replacing the promoted trio of Coventry, Ipswich and Hull. Their games are shown on the same channels as the rest of the league in each country, with club streaming covering any match TV leaves out.
