Your Guide to AFCON 2027, from Qualifiers to the Final
The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations runs from June 19 to July 17, 2027, with 24 teams spread across ten stadiums in seven cities in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. It is the first finals shared by three hosts, and the last edition played in an odd-numbered year before CAF moves the tournament to a four-year cycle from 2028. Until then, qualifying fills the international windows of September/October and November 2026, then March 2027.
South of the Sahara, one name dominates the listings. SuperSport holds both the qualifiers and the finals in English and Portuguese, on DStv satellite packages and on DStv Stream for phones and laptops. French-speaking countries from Senegal to Congo also get the qualifiers in French on Canal+ Afrique. Across North Africa and the Gulf, beIN Sports is CAF's long-term partner, and TOD is its streaming app. Some supporters can also follow their own team's qualifiers without paying:
- South Africa: Bafana Bafana on SABC Sport
- Egypt: the Pharaohs on ON Time Sports
- Morocco: the Atlas Lions on Arryadia
- Cameroon: the Indomitable Lions on CRTV
- Tanzania: the Taifa Stars on Azam TV
Further afield, deals for the finals are still landing. DAZN shows selected qualifiers in Germany and is reported to have the finals there and in Austria and Switzerland. In the United States and Canada, beIN SPORTS carries selected qualifiers, and Americans can stream them on Fubo. Heading to East Africa for the tournament? Frequently Asked Questions
When and where is AFCON 2027 played?
Kick-off is on June 19, 2027, and the final is on July 17, with Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania sharing hosting duties. This is the tournament's first visit to the CECAFA region since Ethiopia staged it in 1976. Twenty-four nations take part, and the qualifying campaign that decides most of them finishes in March 2027.
What channel shows the Africa Cup of Nations in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya?
SuperSport. It has the qualifiers and the 2027 finals across English-speaking Africa, on DStv satellite and on DStv Stream if you prefer to watch online. The same coverage reaches Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and most of southern and eastern Africa, while Portuguese commentary serves viewers in Angola and Mozambique.
Is AFCON free to watch anywhere?
Yes, for some qualifiers. National broadcasters show their own team's games free in South Africa (SABC Sport), Egypt (ON Time Sports), Morocco (Arryadia), Cameroon (CRTV) and Tanzania (Azam TV). Free coverage of the 2027 finals has not been confirmed in our data yet, so plan on the pay channels for the tournament itself.
How can I watch AFCON qualifiers in the United States?
Tune in to beIN SPORTS, which carries selected qualifiers, or stream the channel on Fubo if you have cut the cable. beIN SPORTS CONNECT offers the games with Arabic commentary. Rights to the finals themselves are not in our US listings yet, and this page will show them once a deal appears.
Who shows AFCON in France and French-speaking Africa?
In France, beIN Sports carries the qualifiers as CAF's long-term partner there. In West and Central Africa, Canal+ Afrique has the qualifiers with French commentary, and SuperSport adds the 2027 finals in countries such as Senegal, Ivory Coast, Mali and DR Congo. Cameroonians also get their national team's qualifiers free on CRTV.
Is AFCON on DAZN?
In Germany, yes: DAZN streams selected qualifiers and is reported to have bought the 2027 finals, with Austria and Switzerland included in those reports. Swiss viewers currently see the qualifiers on beIN. Elsewhere in Europe our listings point to other channels: Spain's Movistar Plus+, Portugal's Sport TV and the Netherlands' Ziggo Sport show selected qualifiers.
What time will AFCON 2027 games kick off for fans abroad?
All matches are played on East Africa Time (UTC+3). That is one hour ahead of South Africa and Central Europe in summer, two hours ahead of Lagos and London, three ahead of Accra and Dakar, and seven ahead of New York. So an 8pm game in Nairobi is a 6pm start in Lagos and 5pm in Accra.
How do I watch AFCON on my phone?
Download the streaming app that matches your country's broadcaster: DStv Stream across most of Africa, TOD in North Africa and the Middle East, Fubo in the US or DAZN in Germany. Sign in with your existing subscription before the tournament starts, and switch to a lower video quality on mobile data so a long knockout night does not drain your bundle.
Can I keep watching my home AFCON coverage while traveling?
Usually, yes. Streaming apps check where you are, so TOD or DAZN may refuse to play once you leave their region. Pointing a VPN at your home country makes the app see your usual location, and the subscription carries on as normal. That is handy for Egyptian and Moroccan fans who fly to Kenya, Uganda or Tanzania with a TOD account.
How does the AFCON 2027 format work?
Six groups of four make up the first round. Each group's top two go through, joined by the four strongest third-placed teams, to form a 16-team bracket. Every tie after that is a single match, settled by extra time and penalties if level, right up to the final in July.
